Apps for Mental Health

We have all had times when we needed someone to talk to or something that would help us get through whatever mental health issue we may be facing. And let’s just admit to ourselves, we are on our phones a lot of the time. (Which we will talk about later). So, why not use that time wisely and help ourselves get through whatever we are needing to have help with? Apps are one of the easiest ways to get that help. The ones I am recommending to you, I have either had before, have currently, or intend on trying out. They are all easy to use and they are all FREE! Of course, they have premium versions but you don’t have to buy them to get the helpful effects. So without further ado, let’s get into some apps for Mental Health.

  1. Calm (IOS and Android) Calm is an app that helps with improving your sleep, helping with stress, and anxiety, improving focus, self-improvement, and more. Calm is mostly based on meditation, but also has features like storytelling and sleep sounds. For this app, most of the features are on the premium version (most of the stories and sounds), but you still have access to a lot of helpful features with the free version. If you like the app and want to try out the premium version, it is $69.69 per year.

  2. Wysa (IOS and Android) Wysa is an AI Coach. It has been designed to pick up on your emotions and offer you ways to get through whatever you may be feeling. It can recommend and help you with things like doing yoga, meditating, deep breathing exercises, with a lot more. You can tell Wysa what you are thinking or what you are needing help with and it will give you helpful emotional support. There are other options as well, you don’t have to speak with the AI, and you can try out your ways of trying to help yourself through guided meditations, breathing exercises, journaling, and a lot more. It is a very easy-to-use app and has a lot of features on the free version. However, the paid version offers options like speaking to a therapist or a Wysa Well-Being Coach. The premium version of this app is $99 per year, but they have a promotion at the moment where it is $59.99 per year with a 7-day free trial.

  3. Finch: Self-Care Widget Pet (IOS and Android) Finch is an app that has you care for a pet. Each day you send your pet on an adventure and it will come back with “prizes”. While your pet is away you can set your daily goals, make a mood journal entry, and practice habits you have set up. and more. Doing these “tasks” will help your pet throughout their adventure and help them to get back faster with your prize. There are several different activities you can do to help with what you’re going through. There are quizzes, reflection activities, breathing exercises, yoga and other exercises, and sounds. The free version has more than enough to help, but to get even more there is a premium version for $39.99 per year after a 7-day free trial, which can be paid weekly.

  4. Sanvello: Anxiety & Depression (IOS and Android) This app helps you by letting you set a guided path. You will decide which areas you are needing help with and they will recommend different activities for you to do each day. There is a weekly check-in and your can log your mood daily, add journal entries, and meditate, and there is a daily quote. and even community discussion groups. You can create your group or pick a topic and chat with that group. This app has an amazing free version with many different things you can do, however, if you wish there are two different options for the paid versions. The premium version opens all of the guided journeys, has all of the CBT tools unlocked, and opens the full meditation library. Then there is Premium + Coaching, which unlocks all content, unlocks personal mental health coaching, and offers Sanvello Live. The premium option is $53.99 per year or $8.99 per month, and the premium + coaching version is $350 per year or $50 per month.

  5. Headspace: Meditation & Sleep (IOS and Android) Headspace is another app that has base on meditation. For this app, they set up your day for you with different activities to do throughout the day to help keep you grounded. You are also able to choose your activities if you are wanting to meditate, get help with sleep, movement, or focus. This app is also free but there aren’t as many options for you if you stay with the free version (which is why I deleted this one.) However, the paid version has two options for payment, you can pay yearly or monthly. If you choose to pay yearly it is $69.99 per year, which would add up to $5.83 per month. If you choose the monthly options it is $12.99 per month.

These are only a few of the many options there are available. All of these apps are free so you don’t even have to worry about spending any money to feel better. There are premium versions of all of these and several of them offer direct help from a therapist or mental health coach. So give them a try and see what you think. I hope you enjoy all of them, but remember we are all different and therefore all require different types of help, so don’t give up if one of these doesn't work for you. Keep trying to find different ones until you find what is best for you.

As always feel free to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, or need someone to talk to. I’m always here for someone in need. You can reach me through my social media or email, which I will link below.

Thank you guys for reading and I hope you have a wonderful, stress and anxiety-free day!

Sincerely, Heaven
